At our home in Playa del Carmen, Mexico Christmas was celebrated royally this year. I chased all over town to find a piñata the right size and color to decorate and hang in our living room as our Christmas tree.
We hung sparkling lights over the doorway to the dining room and no home would be complete without a Virgin of Guadalupe with flashing lights.
Then preparations for Christmas dinner began.
We expected 10 for dinner and were determined to have turkey even though our kitchen has no oven. The bird, stuffing and sweet potatoes were carried around the corner to our friend James’ house early in the morning. I could not find sage for the stuffing but did find a poultry seasoning with contained it and also had a bit of chili arbor (very, very spicy). I decided it was Mexico and the bird should know it (even if it had been shipped in from the US). The result was delicious.
Our Mexican daughter, Samantha, was not able to attend the dinner but arrived the next day with this beautiful bouquet of flowers.
