Our friends Matt and Allan of North American Standards Property Management donated this great table to Leyendo for our library but it was heavy and needed to be lowered from a penthouse roof with ropes and trucked to school. Henry and his friend Frankie volunteered for the project. I waited at school for a truck to arrive but this is what I saw!
It is five feet long and has two leaves that get screwed on each end with braces underneath to make 8 feet. A great addition to the Adriana Cupul Itza Library!
We need chairs for the library. These chair/desks were too cumbersome and would not work with the table. The Director, Joel Briones, knew a man with welding equipment who could remove the desk part. Today it got done.
There are four areas where the floor tiles have come loose and disappeared. We decided the most economical and rapid solution was to fill the areas with cement and paint with a color similar to the existing tiles. Frankie, one of table deliverers, is a cement man but his car was not working. Again, the morning Director came through. One of the parents is a cement man and he is fixing the holes this evening. We will let it dry a couple days and paint so all is ready for library creation with Library in a Week folks on Monday. All very exciting!
