After the Sumidero Canyon we stopped for lunch in Chiapas de Corzo. It was hot so we found pozole with cacao, a rice thick drink that filled us perfectly. The central square contained this lovely red brick pavilion and there was a church nearby. I purchased a new embroidered wallet from this lady and her son who was dripping his popsicle all over the sidewalk.
We sat in the shade to drink pozole and along came Freddy, a 3 or 4 year old selling colorful knotted bracelets. We asked him to untie the bunch and began looking through them when he suddenly ran off. Beckoning him back did no good, then we realized he needed to pee behind a nearby tree! But he did return to collect for his sales. Very young children are everywhere trying to make a few pesos and they are good workers. I only hope the number decreases when school begins again.
