Cakes, pie, tarts and all kinds of bread were found at Metropolitan Bakery in the Reading Terminal Market this morning. I took the train into Center City with my daughter, Dorsche. She went to work, I went to the market! A full block of bakeries, meat markets, fresh produce booths, honey products and all kinds of food to go stands: an oyster bar, cheese steaks, cajun food, corn dogs, middle eastern fare, crepes, Italian, Chinese and much more. The wonderful odors were overwhelming when we opened the doors.

There are several areas in the market of small tables and chairs to enjoy the fare and watch the incredible crowds of shoppers. I was there early but know that lunch time is absolute chaos!
Then I walked just one block north to Chinatown shopping for a mortar and pestle for my son Zack’s kitchen. He and Claire are making some delightful food and I wanted to thank them and add to their burgeoning kitchen.

I did find one, insanely heavy, so I took Uber home to their house to finish packing for the trip home to Mexico tomorrow morning.
